ABOUT THE ARTIST

I was born in Florida but art has been the inspiration for my traveling to over 30 countries in 24 years. My formal training started in 1995 in Los Angeles under the artist Anthony Pontrello. Since then my style has remained mostly classical until 2010 when I was captivated by a statue of the Buddha in the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. I started not knowing where I was going with it.

After only three or four canvases I knew exactly what to do. For the first time in my life, I let go. I felt liberated. And these paintings are what came from that.
When I apply thinned paint and look closely the paint appears to be a rush of water, or new river, flowing through golden mountain valleys and finally, slowly seeping into the dried cracked Earth and into desert sands. The wood grain appears to be sand dunes that change with light and perspective.
I have gotten so much enjoyment and a peaceful meditative satisfaction from painting these Buddhas and I look forward to seeing where else I go from here. I hope you enjoy them.
My paintings are in private collections in Cannes, Hyeres, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.
