About Noe Vicente
The artist Noe Vicente was born in Pagsanjan, Laguna, Philippines in 1966. In a small town of cultured people who takes pride for their love for arts and passionately embracing art as part of their fine homes. He has known by fellow school classmates, family members and close friends as someone who started drawing and painting in the early stage of his life and who develops the passion and love for painting by simply loving it. He also explains that he actively enrolled himself in an art training that was sponsored by the Governor of the Province of Laguna. He had his very first painting contest experienced at the age of 14, which helped him decided to paint for life. Since then his understanding of art matures as well as his knowledge and appreciation to creative arts whether modern or contemporary. As of today, he had been working predominantly in the medium of oil, acrylic and water color painting. He had also worked as Graphic Designer in various Ad Agency internationally whereas his creativity was enhanced even more. He studied Fine Arts, and has a major in advertising at the Far Eastern University in Manila from 1989 to 1992. He is now living and economically based in Monterrey, Mexico. Married his beautiful wife Adriana and happily living life with his adorable son Gabriel.
Artistic Statement
Noe Vicente’s works are an investigation into representations of (seemingly) concrete ages and situations as well as depictions and ideas that can only be realized in painting. He believes that by applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies creates arts with daily, recognizable elements, an unprecedented situation in which the viewer is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position. By creating situations and breaking the passivity of the spectator, he wanted the viewer to become part of his art.
Personal Point of View about Artist
I have great respect and admiration to all artists whose approach are made through strict rules which can be perceived as liberating constraints and with romantic values such as ‘inspiration’, ‘genius’ and ‘authenticity’. By applying a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way.
Art is entertainment, “To be able to touch the work, as well as to interact with the work is important.”
