Edward Rilke was born in 1972 in France. On receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, Rilke moved to Australia to discover his paternal roots and in particular to follow one of his passions, scuba diving. His particular love of photography grew after moving to Sydney in 1994, where he began to experiment using the new forms of technology.
Rilke’s exciting and innovative images begin from reality but are so manipulated that a new image is created which is then left to the viewer to interpret. Rilke puts an indisputable intrinsic beauty before the observer. The strong colors that pervade his works, in part look back to his youth in the 1980’s and his memories of life in the South of France. Most recently, Rilke has been experimenting on an exciting new project using video screens where his characteristic six panels seem static but every so often one of the images changes at random. This is the series of works that is being shown in 2014 at the Chianti Star Festival, Italy.
His most recent successful collective and solo exhibitions have been in Australia, Italy, Mexico, Spain, UK and France including World Art Vision, Cancun and Barcelona and he is a member of the OpenArtCode group, having participated in the exciting London show.
