Beca Castel's work is dynamic, sensual and fluid with color. The paintings are full of complex, beautiful and intricate details. Symbolism and subliminal messages are fluidly embedded within her pieces. She evokes a sense of mystery with an aura of sensuality and deception. Beca Castel uses a lot of gold in her pieces. Gold is the color of success, abundance and luxury. It represents affluence, material wealth and extravagance. Gold illuminates and enhances everything that it touches. Our deeply visual culture today shows the fascination humanity has with the power of images. This obsession for material satisfaction has become an addiction that consumes one’s own demise.
As an emerging artist, Beca Castel showcases this pervasive quest to create her own image. She has this underlying obsession with status, wealth and influence in this world. She is the representation of a self-absorbed youth, with self-inflated egos. She stands for the struggled society, whose desires are consumed in the attempt to obtain such a status. She represents the American 21st Century consumerism and branding culture. She is a reflection of an era.
