BIOGRAPHY
Michael Ramunno is one of Miami’s emerging young artists that has caught the eye of many. He was born in 1990 into a Hispanic household where he discovered, at a very early age, his creative gift. His family recalls him often choosing crayons or a soccer ball over toys as he was growing up. Much hasn't changed for this young prospect, because he continues to be that same art passionate and motivated kid in spirit.
Ramunno has traveled and attended school in both South America and Europe. Ultimately what he experienced during this time gave him awareness and understanding that will later influence his art. He witnessed the many differences and similarities people, languages, cultures, music, art and many other things share. Every day experiences and knowledge he acquires along the way have and continue to motivate his art career. Art, for him, is a divine gift that allows him to communicate and teach extraordinary things.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"I make art in order to communicate, relate, and inspire awareness. It is my personal way to voice my thoughts and ideas of day-to-day life. Often, raising questions is more important than finding answers. This is what my art does for me. Inspired by expressionism, surrealism, pop art, collaging and typography I have developed a versatile and unique style. Using different mediums, colors and narrative-filled imagery I make art in hopes of establishing relationships...
Despite the differences people share, all dream and practice wishful thinking and for that I believe we are linked to one another. We are connected in space and in time to the physical world around us, and as product of our surroundings we are influenced and changed by such...
When I make art I am influenced by the physical world among many other things. To me art is the practice of a divine gift, and when I create I feel as if though I am fulfilling my purpose. What inspires my art surfaces from the gift of being alive and the act of being present in every given moment we are blessed with.
As sons and daughters of this great planet I think that we carry a responsibility as protectors. I conserve and live by this idea through what I create and by creating art I believe there is much to be learned."
