BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Maria Luisa Pflucker was born in Peru on November 15th, 1943 in the city of Lima where she was raised and she actually lives and works. By the year 1980 she began studying with the recognized Spanish portraitist Miguel Gallo (passed away many years ago). She learnt to draw human figures on charcoal and perfected her technique. As she was studying and learning, she wanted to go further and express with color what she felt and saw, showing and conveying the world from her perspective.
Maria Luisa studied with several Peruvian masters from the most prestigious workshops in Lima, Peru, German Suarez Vertiz, Jorge Arribasplata and Bill Caro were some of the names that contributed her formation, but as autodidact she created her own and unique style. Her true love for art makes her grasp every detail almost anxiously but with pleasure. Even though, the real world is perfect for her, her versatility has led her to go easily form the real to the unreal creating a combination of elements, symbolism's and colors that only she can achieve.
Using the traditional method, her new works are seductive and sophisticated as well as youthful and fresh capturing the essence of the expression and beauty of a human being. It is a fact that her work reflects and it is a product of her, culture, life and experiences. Contrasts, ups and downs, losses, achievements, her joyful personality and her passion for life is what her creation breathes. Her surroundings in Lima also influences her work, as Lima is a huge and cosmopolitan city, it offers her a great diversity of possibilities, different ethnic groups, people, fashion, colors and views. As an artist the most gratifying experience for her is the welcome and admiration of her public, with whom she wants to share her art and feelings. Maria's name is featured in the book “Artistas Plásticos En El Perú” (Plastics Artists in Peru) and she has participated in many groups and solo exhibitions in the city of Lima, Miami and New York, obtaining excellent reviews. When Maria is required, she also works in specific and special portraits; she is requested because of her realism an noticeable perfectionism.
