Artist Statement

Dana Robins is a painter, graphic artist and 3-D animator. She describes her art as “mixed-media surrealism” that is influenced by her observations about life, psychology and psychiatry. Dana’s outlook is that “art is an illusion created to express greater truths” and she utilizes anything at her disposal to communicate her ideas. Integrated into many of Dana’s paintings you can find re-purposed everyday objects such as hot glue, aluminum foil, PVC pipe, string and broken appliances. Ms. Robins is primarily a self-taught artist who enjoys expressing her voice through her work. The content of her work is often introspective and satirical and is a commentary about personal and cultural issues. Dana wants to make her viewers think and encourages them to interpret her work for themselves: “Even if the viewer doesn’t interpret the pieces as having the same meaning as my intention, if people come to their own conclusions and realize something else greater that’s just as beautiful.”

Dana has a Bachelor of Sciences in Visual Effects from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
