About Jit Nieuwenhuis (The Netherlands, 1951)
The artist Jit Nieuwenhuis has been studying at the Art Academy in the Netherlands, ‘Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten’. She has been working as a professional artist from 1975.
In 2001 Jit received the “Award for Art of Love”. In 2011 she gained the “Price of Honour” on the Biennale in Florence, Italy.
Jit’s work is highly appreciated by collectors in the Far East and Europe. Expositions take place in Shanghai, Being as well as in Portugal, Italy and The Netherlands.
Artist Statement: 'Living in the Art of Creativity’
Composing
In her work, Jit considers herself as a composer, doing her own choreography. The art of expression is her passion. Jit has the ability to express herself in a quick way. She has inner strength which exposes in her paintings while listening to music or watching dancers. During concerts she positions herself close to the stage, while creating watercolours.
For Jit, painting is like exposing herself, losing censorship. In that environment Jit is able to get inspired.
Love Affair
The artist: "When able to speak, the canvas would tell me: “I want you, only you and specifically you”. It chooses me like it wants me for a love affair. “ Let the result of your expression been born threw me. Express yourself on behalf of me”...My inspiration finds its origin in the power of nature, love and musical creations. This power is stronger than my mind can ever be."
