Biography:
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1971. At a very young age I became interested in art. At the age of seven I joined a painting studio under the direction of the artist Ofelia de Leon, where I attended theoretical and practical courses during fifteen years, developing specialties in the following techniques: charcoal drawing, pastel, acrylic and oil.
In 1982, I was awarded the first prize in the art contest at Club Playa Azul with “Casa Colonial Estado Zulia” (technique: oil on canvas), and in 1983 I obtained the third prize in the national art contest at Salon de Arte de Maraven in Caracas, with “The Backyard in Sevilla” (technique: oil on canvas). I studied Business Administration at Universidad metropolitan in Caracas, where I obtained my degree in 1993.
In 1997 I began woodwork, developing personalized furniture design. Years later I started with the design and fabrication of miniature furniture in my own workshop.
In 2008 I studied sculpting with the Architect Ralph Anthony Brewer in Caracas, and in 2010 I studied advanced woodwork and finishing techniques in Carpinteria Quadros in Caracas.
In 2011 I developed a curiosity for new forms and colors that enhance my impeccable style, sober and neat. Combining all my knowledge and experience and driven by my passion for art, I started to develop art pieces that express that sense of simpleness and elegance that can be found in my art work.
They are sculptures from my own inspiration, mainly in wood, aluminum and carbon steel, with finishes that provide a smooth look with the intensity of the right shine to enhance colors depending on the way light touches them.
