Matthew John Pasquarella, born in Kittery Maine, is a self taught artist who began his artistic career in earnest after moving to Buffalo New York in 1993.
Matthew John’s first gallery solo show was British West Indies, 2002 at CEPA3 Gallery, Buffalo, New York, comprised of oil paintings influenced by his sailing trips through the British West Indies. He held two open studio shows in his Exchange Street Studio Gallery: Bidwell and Beyond, November 2006, limited edition digital color photographs shot in March of 2004 which captured the unspoiled beauty of post-winter trees which have since been lost to the “October Storm.” In 2007 Matthew John partnered with his bother; sculptor Mark Quinlan Pasquarella, in Beyond the Sea, a collection of black and white oil pastel seascapes on paper and acrylic sculptures. In 2008, Matthew John exhibited several works in the CEPA Gallery Co-Sponsored show: PRISM, One Community, and Many Perspectives. In 2009 Pasquarella exhibited at College Street Gallery (November 6 – 30) and Queen City Gallery (November 13 – 30). In 2010 he exhibited New Work by Matthew John Pasquarella (May 7 – 30) at College Street Gallery, and was included in a group show at Gallery 464. In 2012 he exhibited at Emerging/Converging, Gallery 464 at Damon Morey, Buffalo, New York.
Commercial works include his minimalist seascapes installation at Sea Bar restaurant in downtown Buffalo, large scale Black & White Abstracts commissioned for the Penthouse Gallery in Ellicott Commons Lofts and colorful abstracts for the lobby and floors of The Web Building Lofts, both located in downtown Buffalo. Most recently, a large-scale mixed media work was installed in the lobby of the AM&A’s Warehouse Lofts.
