Elson Velázquez Rivera was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico and now resides in the City of Toa Alta in Puerto Rico. From a young age he felt a strong inclination to art and painting. He began painting abstract drawings and cartoons. In the late 1960's, he took painting classes at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueño and Escuela de Artes Luchetty. After formalizing his marriage, in the 1990's, he devotes more time to his love for art and enrolls at the Liga de Arte de San Juan and the art studio of artist Zilia Sánchez. He participated in various group exhibitions at the Liga de Arte de San Juan. His first solo exhibition, "Búsqueda", took place at the Centro Cardiovascular del Caribe during the month of April in 2006. His second solo exhibition, "Trayectoria", took place during August and September of 2006 at the Centro De Bellas Artes de Guaynabo. |
