Alejandro Carrillo (Alexati)
Biography:
Young artist, originally from Mexico City, Mexico. His interest in visual arts, especially painting, drawing and fashion design led him from an early age to take courses in drawing and painting to develop his technique and find wider ways of expressing himself on canvas. His pictorial work emerges from glamour, beauty, aesthetics and eroticism of people, particularly women. He searches around this topics and he not only focuses on painting, rather he works with other art forms attempting to go further in the way he express what he's passion about it.
His artwork has been exhibited in Mexico and abroad. He has some solo exhibitions and has sold his work in Argentina, Canada, England, Mexico and Spain

ARTISTIC STATEMENT:
"All my works are somehow my own representations of people's (myself included) fascination and appreciation for beauty. I like the idea of trying to represent this fascination and explore beneath the typical concept of beauty which some people might see or consider as just something that happens to be superficial and frivolous. As humans I believe many of us are in a search of beauty in so many ways, and I also believe that being surrounded by beauty or just staring at it can bring us joy, peace and great inspiration...
It's often thought of beauty as something superficial in life, In my paintings I'm looking forward to take the meaning of this word to another atmosphere and to provide a different and more positive point of view to the people by breaking with the usual stuff we're used to see, going from the average/ideal woman that looks like a porcelain doll to other type of unusual beauties like a plus sized woman, a 80 year old lady or an androgynous girl/boy for example...
Beauty is such a strong word with so many meanings that are sometimes misunderstood, it's my intention to make people get to know more of them and to enjoy staring at many kinds of beauty."
