Biography:
Hans Petersen is an international artist. Danish born, he was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. There he was inspired by the aftermath of the COBRA movement. To this day his work draws on the movement’s basic principals that inject color and excitement into his work.
Hans’ work as a graphic designer brought him to New York City in 1976, where he became a principal and creative director for a successful design firm. He relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1991. Hans’ contemporary and creative style earned him the prestigious assignment to design the market and promotional materials for the International Home Furnishing Center in High Point, NC. His innovative graphic style distinguished the IHFC books for 15 years.
In 2005 Hans returned to painting full time. His work is in galleries in Charlotte, NC, Stamford, CT, Miami and in Copenhagen and in private collections around the world

Paintings with impact bring me pleasure. I strive to infuse a distinctive energy and character into my work to achieve excitement for myself and for others. If it goes unnoticed, it simply wasn’t worth (while) painting.
