Who is Viki?
Viki is the childhood name of Viktor Baraga, who is now 54 years old child on the inside and a businessmen and diplomat and artist on the outside.
From my early childhood in former Yugoslavia to today in Independent Slovenia and Down Under Australia , I have always strived for new for better for higher for deeper , for more creativity ,honesty, devotion, appreciation , acceptance and everything else , than a man with Honor and firm backbone should strive for.
I started the career as enthusiastic scientist, in communist Yugoslavia. I tried to change, to make it better, more efficient and new.
From the start I quite often became in conflict with myself and my own ambitions.
The communist system was not tough , but rough and I wanted more and better, so I left for Australia , where I started my business in the late 8o’s.
I was and still am trading globally in pharmaceutical and chemical and other industrial products and services.
16 years ago I received the honor to become an Honorary Consul for Australia in Slovenia.
I still consider it as great honor and opportunity, to meet even more interesting people and various views. Diplomacy can be good if it is not too diplomatic. I’m still giving it my best to make it like that, wherever I can and am permitted to do so.
In 2003 I initiated and organized the first Diplomatic Regatta ® in Izola Slovenia. Convincing diplomats, politicians and MP’s to participate in first such event in the world was not easy. But with devoted help of my wife Mojca and others we managed.
It became a very successful event and together with my partner Carlos Chomut, we endeavor to spread it to the world.
I travel the world, I meet different people, cultures, attitudes, mentalities, but after 25 years in the service of money, cruelty of the shallowness it’s all slowly taking it’s tall.
In the last few years I rediscovered myself by starting painting. It makes me calm, it fulfils my creative urge, and it fulfils my need to express.
Finally after all this years of sailing in dark stormy waters I found a calm bay with turquoise water , corals and fish, people who think to make it better and fuller.
This is where I dropped my anchor, and this is where I want to stay and paint.
