Born in Montreal, Canada, in 1952.
Early in her life, she was introduced to visual arts by her father architect, and during her entire childhood, she attended the Montreal School of Fine Arts on a weekly basis. Throughout her life, she entertained a passion for the world of arts, and her curiosity led her to explore numerous forms of expression, such as weaving, ceramics, sculpture, drawing and painting, dance, theatre and circus arts.
In 1999, after a career in advertising, she decided to engage in painting. Today she is fully dedicated to her art and spends all of her time in her very unique studio, located in the heart of Montreal’s Mile-End district. The body and the human face are always the main subject of her attention and of her research, in reason of the strong emotions they inspire to her.
Her creative process aims at sharing these emotions. The vigorous and rough strokes which can be seen of some of her works reflect the vibrant attitude which she manifests while facing the canvas. Her mix of realism and abstraction make her work very unique, and usually trigger intense emotions.
She uses acrylic, charcoal crayons, pastel and pigments (mixed media) on canvas. She will often put brushes aside and pursue her piece with sponges or other tools. Her strong need for being in touch with raw materials will bring her from time to time to modeling with argyle, this three-dimensional exercise allowing her to improve her knowledge of the human face and body.
She studied namely with Sophie Jodoin, Olivier Longpré, and Jean-Louis-Émond at Saydie Bronfman School of Fine Arts. She attends live models workshops and is an avid reader of books on human anatomy.
