I love being a sculptor. Each piece I do presents me with a new and challenging experience. Until the mid-2000s, I worked exclusively in stone, but in 2005 a welding class opened up a whole new medium for me. In my welded metal sculpture, I am able to explore line, space and form in a completely different way than stone allowed. I work mostly in found objects and scrap metal and love the way welding allows me, literally and figuratively, to go in many different directions, sometimes all at once. Many of my pieces reflect the urban environment in which I grew up and lived most of my life. I continue to be amazed by the evolution of my sculptures as the material and I work together to create my art works.
