Celso Portela was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1975. He grew up in the beach town of Vega Baja were nature and beauty are an every day experience. His love and appreciation for art came at a young age while visiting art galleries and museums with his mother, also an artist herself.
After graduating from Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico (School of Visual Arts) in 2002, with a Fine Arts degree specialized in Image & Graphic Design, Celso Portela has been creating compelling and unique graphic designs for his clients, while nurturing his passion for art through the photographic image.
For the artist, every day objects become great starting places for creating and exploring beauty. The masterfully use of asymmetry, angle, focus, and color blend in a orchestrated composition of unusual, engaging and inspiring works of art.
In his own words: "Beauty can be found everywhere. You just have to know where to look. With the use of the camera I can search for it in places rarely thought to look into. Sometimes beauty is taken for granted, when in fact is part of our well-being and our enjoyment of everyday experiences."
