Philip Myrick

Like most artist it always seems like I have more ideas in my head then I have time to create with. I could produce a thousands paintings a year and still have a million more visions for new work. If I've made it through this life with the satifaction of bringing even half of my ideas to reality then I can consider myself very lucky to have done so. In general my work can be described as bright and vivid. I enjoy using lots of bright colors even when it wouldn't seem right for the subject. I like to be very loose and use large obvious brush strokes that give the image vibrant movement and energy.

Subject wise I find myself jumping from one idea to another and then back agian to the first idea. For one piece I will be political while another piece would be more impressionistic in style. I also enjoy nonobjective painting because it causes the viewer to use their own imagination while observing the image. I hope that my artwork can help restimulate our imaginations which now in the age of technology and instant satifaction needs to be reawaken.
