Kevin Caffrey is a photographer, three-time Emmy Award winner and writer. Born in New Jersey and raised in Chicago, Kevin’s career has taken him to locations throughout the United States and overseas.
Kevin views his passion for still photography as a natural extension of his love for visual imagery. Now, rather than communicating on the planes of sight, sound and motion as he did during his career in film and television, he seeks to create compelling and thought provoking still images that reflect his unique creative and artistic sensibilities. He holds the world to be a place replete with “photo ops” just waiting to convey the magnificence of creation, to celebrate some memorable aspect of the human condition or to simply evoke a smile.
Kevin’s work has been shown at numerous galleries, including the Romero Britto Gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil; the HW Gallery in Naples, Florida; the Sweet Art Gallery in Naples; and at an exclusive month-long showing at the Esplanade on Marco Island, Florida. He will open a three-month exhibit at the Art Fusion Gallery in Miami, Florida in April, 2009.
Kevin’s passion for working with visual images was born while he was a student at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While an English and Philosophy major, he developed an interest in writing, producing and directing independent films and television programs. That interest quickly evolved into a calling. After graduating from Marquette, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and earned a Masters Degree in film and television production.
Upon completion of his schooling, Kevin worked for television stations in various markets around the country writing, producing and directing locally, regionally and nationally distributed documentaries, music programs and live sports event presentations. In 1983, he settled in the woods of West Georgia and formed an independent film and television production company. During his years as an independent, Kevin was recipient of three Emmy Awards for documentaries he wrote, produced and directed, 9 Telly Awards and numerous other awards for programming produced on behalf of a diverse assortment of clients.
