Bio………………PIPPI JOHNSON

Pippi Johnson was born in England during Second World War to a Canadian solider and a British war bride. She came to Canada as a young child and was raised in Winnipeg, Canada. After art studies at the University of Manitoba and Forum Art Institute, she moved to Kenora, Ontario with her husband. There, she raised a family and taught high school art for over thirty tears, influencing the lives and careers of many young people. She continued to study, obtaining a Masters in Art Education at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Berkley, California in 1983. . In Naples Pippi has been mentored by Marilyn Crawford, Geni Kell and Joanne Lizio.

Well known in her local Canadian area, and now a snowbird, Pippi is making a Florida reputation exhibiting her joyful and colorful paintings of street and restaurants in outdoor shows, Naples galleries and many juried exhibition. Recently her work was featured in The NAA designer display home.

Pippi has spent all of the summers of her adult life on Treaty Island on Lake of the Woods. Away from all cars, buses and people she has drawn her strength and ideas about design and layers from the changing forms of sky, forests, and the wide expanses of water. The presence of a white winter eight months of the year has jolted her into using color as a primary image. She now spends six months of the year traveling and living in Naples Florida where she has discovered new beauty and themes in urban life, the outdoor cafes and figures moving in a different landscape.
