I was born in Havana Cuba, on September 13, 1951, and came to the United States in 1955. I have been interested in art since the time I can remember. Throughout my school age years, teachers complemented me on my talent for art, but it was not until the year 1977 when my aunt Dr. Olga Santiago came from Cuba, that I understood the meaning of art. She had been the director of the literature and philosophy department of the University of Havana and had many old artist acquaintances. She educated me in the history of art from the cave dwellers to the present time in order to bring out the artist within me. Be yourself, let loose and paint without a care. It was at that time that I began the path of an artist.
