Biography
That, which is unknown, that which has an aura of mystique, conjures a fascination within us. It invokes both a need for personal investigation, as well as a desire to share the mystery with others. Through as little as a suggestive glance, one can instantly convey feelings and emotions, which otherwise could not be expressed in words. So too does this work with art. Depending upon the situation, the visual enchantment that a painting can provide may cause some to suppress their emotions, while cause others to embrace from within themselves those values such as honesty, loyalty, and respect that we as a people have held to be virtuous since the beginnings of civilization. I invite you to look at my paintings and discover that sense of wonderment and mystery that resides within each and every one us, making us unique.
I was first inspired to create my own art through my research of the great masters. After high school, I ventured into the field of fine arts in my native country of Colombia. My passion for painting grew as I began to perfect the techniques of light and shadow, form, and texture that give both life and interaction to my work.
These paintings have been admired in museums and private exhibitions, both individually and collectively. They have been shown in North America, from New York to Washington, and in Europe, from Rome to Madrid, as well as Central and South America. The paintings have been featured in art exhibitions such as Miami Art, Art Santa Fe, Art Caracas, and in Buenos Aires, which, during the VII Bienal de Arte Sacro, pintura, 1998, highlighted my painting, “AMARTIA – El comienzo de la autodestrucción”.
