BIOGRAPHY
Caiphus has spent most of his professional career creating world-class artwork for the video game industry. Overcome by the love of painting, he has returned to South Florida to pursue his dream of becoming a renowned artist. The art of Caiphus is enchanting, direct and loaded with hidden metaphors and subtle puns: easily digested by the eyes but always leaving the brain searching for the true meaning. A graduate of the Maryland Institute, College of Art, Caiphus has always been inspired by the natural human form. He creates on a variety of mediums; from traditional canvas to custom designed sneakers. His art can be seen in video games, album covers, apparel and on gallery walls. An avid traveler, Caiphus can be found sketching in the rain forests of Costa Rica to the Giant Buddha in Lantau, Hong Kong. He sees the beauty in the world and strives to apply that same imagery to his paintings.
Artist Statement
My artwork is constantly growing and evolving, just like my physical self. It is a blend of my selective past mixed with my present thoughts; thus allowing my subject matter to emerge through love and experience. I paint quickly with a deliberate brush stoke with splashes of color to emphasize the energy I feel while creating. I love the streets. I love the constant struggle between the haves and have-nots. I love the constant duel within human relationships and I find myself compelled to tell that story without being too direct. I enjoy creating art that holds a double meaning: one for the viewer and one for myself; in-between the meaning is where I feel the freest.
I am 30 something year old artist that can remember being a 7-year-old artist that can see myself being a 70-year-old artist… it is what I have become.
