Growing up, D. H. Guire “lived all over the place”. Between the ages of 2 and 17, he lived in 10 different states within the US, actually changing states 13 times. Originally from Alabama, he has lived on the East Coast, the Midwest, the West Coast, the South and Texas. Having spent many years in Houston, D. H. consequently considers himself a “naturalized” Texan. It was in the Houston area where his passion for photography truly became apparent.
His first memory of using a camera was at age 7. For those that remember, it was a Kodak 110 format. At age 19, D.H. purchased his first 35 mm SLR. For many years following, he found relaxation and creative release in photo trips all over Southeast Texas. After many years of neglecting this passion, the advent of digital SLRs brought him back out to seek photographic subjects.
D.H. has made his career working in the mutual fund industry. Currently, he is on a two-year assignment helping to ramp up an operations site in Hyderabad, India. Since both photography and travel are personal passions, the assignment in India is a great opportunity.
When asked to describe his work and motivation, he says, “I see the world as photographs. It is whatever captures my eye or inspires a reaction in me, as though the photograph is simply asking for a photographer”. Very simply put, “I try to capture the art around us”.
