As an Artist
Greatest feeling: Seeing an idea for a painting in your head and being motivated to hussle to it. As great as this is, the true inspiration happens while doing the work. Once all of this starts, it can't happen fast enough. The fun is in creating something from nothing. Worst feeling: Allowing for an idea to get old. This is a waste of spirit.
Style and Technique
Primary and secondary colors hit me like a good bullet. The subject matter is seldom my focus but it does lend itself to the details of shape. In College I studied George Seuart, a neo-impressionist. It was his theory and use of color that has helped develop my style. There is an obvious pointillist influence. The placing of one layer of colored dots on top of another while allowing the colors from underneath layers to show through each layer of dots. There is an underlying uniformed layer of red, blue, green and yellow in every work. D O T S make the A R T.
Past and the Vision...
?I grew up and reside in Eastern Iowa with my family. I studied at Marycrest College in Davenport Iowa and hold a BA degree in Computer Graphics with a minor in art. I owned and operated a publishing company from 1991-1994. Then I went to work at my family's corporation in which design and invention was a daily routine. It was very much of a good thing but did not fulfill my artistic ability or drive to do more. I have been painting since the early 1990's. Only in the past 3 years have I decided to take it my artwork to a professional level. I look forward to continuing my work which represents me and work to harness the entrepreneurial spirit that is unlimited in possibilities.
