Judith A. Maddox Saylor - an American Nature Painter
My art began on or small Pennsylvania Farm in Gettysburg, complete with bucolic, rolling hills. I drew on cardboard inserts from my Father’s shirts, the walls of our 1800’s farmhouse and even on the old barn itself.
In 1967, on my first trip to Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, I was enchanted by the tropical colors. Here I am inspired to paint from life, dreams and photography. These acrylic representations on canvas are tied to the abundant nature surrounding me and reflect the saturation of color and brilliant light. The main objective of my work is to fill a space in a beautiful way, using subjects that are readily available.
It is my hope ...?that these paintings will open a dialogue with nature,?so we can stop for a moment,?to look and to see...?the tree...?the leaf...?the flower at our feet,?our nature...yours and mine.?It is worth the stopping...and the seeing.
