Vibrant colors and experimental methodologies are two primary characteristics of Tamera Tabor’s art. At once sophisticated and childlike, her dynamism and innocence create works of peaceful yet playful beauty.
She says of her work: “To me the overall purpose of art is to elicit an emotional response. My work is specifically geared toward the positive, as I believe there is plenty of negative and we desperately need balance. I believe that art has the power to reduce road rage, to soothe the weary soul and to basically have a profoundly calming affect on anyone.”
Her medium is primarily acrylics on gallery stretched canvas but she has also used unconventional tools such as bubble wrap, sponges, paint rollers, ice scrapers, carved gum erasers and her hands (as in finger painting). Again these methodologies reveal a childlike, primitive approach where nothing is sacred and everything is a tool to make art.
