Alexandra was born in Kenya where she lived most of her life surrounded by the beauty and freedom of Africa. She now splits her time between her African homeland and
Byron Bay (Australia), painting for exhibitions all over the world.
Inspired by her exotic and colorful background, Alexandra
focuses on the African wildlife which she captures in bold and textured oils on canvas. Working with color and form, the essence and passion of the wildlife is captured in all its movement and magnificence. It is this deep inspiration that has emerged in her paintings to create a fresh style that is uniquely her own. In the words of art critic Miriam Cristaldi, “In all these journies across the most diverse countries and continents, this nomadic artist has seen and studied colour in all its territorial changes and expressive possibilities, and it has become a basic part of her artistic research…”
With an education received in Africa, Greece and the U.K, a diploma in dress design, experience in interior decoration and set design, and twenty solo exhibitions under her wing in Kenya, Uganda, Italy, Australia, New York and Miami, Alexandra continues to evolve in the world of art and is presently working for upcoming exhibitions in Australia, Kenya, Miami and Hong Kong.
Artists Statement
“My art is the story of my life,
a life lived largely in the beauty and freedom of Africa,a story of mixed cultures, of travels and fun experiences, a story that is constantly unraveling in a process of trials and errors, leaps and jumps,
but always exciting and always new”.
