Alex was born in New York City to a Cuban father and a Bolivian mother, but a turn in his parent's careers led him to spend his growing years in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He started meddling with art at a very early age, mostly drawing cartoons and painting watercolors. Frequent family trips opened doors to museums around the world, an experience that stimulated his love for art and later in life allowed his work to be influenced by artists like Picasso, Matisse, Falcon, Miró, Pollock and Peter Max. “My learning process has been an incredible journey; it’s amazing how much you can learn by observing and studying other artist’s styles and techniques. You can then harness your imagination, apply your style and fill the canvas. It’s about having fun and transmitting feelings and positive energy.
