Alex

Alex was born in New York City to a Cuban father and a Bolivian mother, but a turn in his parent's careers led him to spend his growing years in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He started meddling with art at a very early age, mostly drawing cartoons and painting watercolors. Frequent family trips opened doors to museums around the world, an experience that stimulated his love for art and later in life allowed his work to be influenced by artists like Picasso, Matisse, Falcon, Miró, Pollock and Peter Max. “My learning process has been an incredible journey; it’s amazing how much you can learn by observing and studying other artist’s styles and techniques. You can then harness your imagination, apply your style and fill the canvas. It’s about having fun and transmitting feelings and positive energy. Would you believe that some ideas for my paintings come to me in my dreams? Go figure…”

Alex got a degree in Visual Arts from La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico, although his career path led him to the world of business, where he worked with several North American multi-national companies. After eleven years in this field, he decided it was time to dedicate himself to his true passion: art. Crazy Pencil Arts is Alex's studio located in his loft in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he now resides with his wife Jannice.

Alex's work is mainly showcased in private collections in the United States, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Spain.
