I do what I do in order to convey a message. For me, it is a release, a way to express my feelings, emotions, and views on issues that are compelling to me. I love the process that goes into each work that I do, and the feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction I get from completing them.
My favorite tool is my mind. I love to learn. I enjoy doing the research that goes into each painting just as much as I do actually painting it. I work on wood because I feel that it compliments my style. I choose the mediums that go into my work based mainly on convenience. I select my themes based on people, objects, and issues that interest me. I try to convey those things in a way that will cause people to discuss or debate those subjects.
The work I am doing now is more representational of my self than many of my previous works. I look forward to my next painting every time I finish one. I try to balance my work as much as possible, yet still keep it very random in style. My work has been called edgy, sarcastic, and cynical. Walter Gaudnek, a professor I had, told me “Don’t hold back…if you think you shouldn’t do it…try it!”- That’s what I do.
