Michelle Passoff and Andre Kupfermunz (MPAK Art+ Design) are a husband and wife art partnership living in St. Petersburg, Florida. Andre Kupfermunz was born in France in 1943, baptized and hidden with a Catholic family in the remote hills while his Jewish parents fought in the Resistance against the Nazis. After reuniting with his parents, he was raised in Brussels, came to the US in 1990 after a career in international trade, and plunged into artwork as an access to discovering his true identity. His ceramic sculptures, including “Scream”, express a range of human emotions. The paintings done with his wife, Michelle, show Andre’s emergence from the depth of inner pain to a lighter, more colorful, joyful and positive expression of Self.
Michelle is formerly a publicist and author of LIGHTEN UP! Free Yourself From Clutter (HarperPerennial). Raised in New Jersey, she spent most of her adult life in Manhattan before moving to Tampa Bay in 2005. As part of the ‘team’, Michelle takes great pleasure in creating paintings with bursts of color, which may seem chaotic, but if executed in the right design context, allow beauty, adventure, aliveness, excitement, discovery, freedom and serenity to co-exist in one’s everyday environment indoors and outside, thereby bringing those qualities to the world. While Michelle is immersed in writing a second book for the 55+ audience, her unique point of view is a trademark not only in the written word, but in the visual arts as her photography illustrates.
