The pathway of self creation through a paintbrush and canvas is the path that I chose to take when confronted with a major crossroads in my life. Making my own decisions and being true to the person that I am is the only way I know how to forge my way through each day. Through my paintings I am able to take myself to a place where I see the personalities, raw intent, and body language of a snapshot in time that can not be explained in mere words, but rather by initiating a conversation with the body of work itself that I’m presently creating. Simply put, I paint because I have too.
The feeling of being completely vulnerable and letting go of whatever I think I have control of allows me to unlock an energy that is untapped when carrying out the everyday normalities of life. I paint to give back to this energy and see where it takes me as I enter a realm of the unknown and am carried through the journey of each painting. Creators from the past and present have given me the inspiration to dive into the most amazing, most vulnerable, and darkest points of my past and present which I then transcribe on the canvas. My hope is to continue to grow and to always remain a student when I’m present to my work and my studio. The energy that emboldens me to create as I do will hopefully provide inspiration to the next generation of artists as the wheel of the arts continues to turn through time. The Art movement has become my life and soul and I will continue to push forward in the world of self creation and help to give a voice to people and artists everywhere who share in the belief of the unknown possibilities that art can offer.
