James Luddy (stylized, JLUD) is a self-taught sculpture artist born in Maryland in 1993. James’ works are inspired through a combination of his work in finance, his desire to express his emotions in timeless thought-provoking ways, and last but not least his big heart worn proudly on his sleeve.
He uses glass, all types and forms of money, and many other mixed media for his works. Several of James’ works express his understanding of and appreciation for the power of money, in both destructive and empowering ways.
When not running marathons, playing piano or paddle boarding around Brickell Key, he can be found sipping tea while working tirelessly on his art.
Artist’s Statement:
My great grandfather, James Leo Tanner, who I am named after, was a coal miner. My grandfather was in the Air Force and my father is a carpenter. I am an artist. I remind myself every day that I am truly fortunate to be able to work on my art, for had the generations that came before me not worked as hard as they did, I may not be able to pursue this passion. I am tremendously grateful that I am now able to share my art with the world.
