Artist Bio South Florida based Venezuelan artist Eduardo Lopez, has been creating powerful contemporary paintings for the past several years, he often incorporates acrylic paint with charcoal and Japanese Sumi ink. He creates fun and dynamic pieces with vibrant colors and elements of abstract expressionism, surrealism, street and pop art. With influences as diverse as Pollock, de Kooning, Basquiat, Choe and Hirst. Eduardo’s creative process tends to be spontaneous and you can sense his technique on his fluid strokes. He relies on social media, online and local galleries to promote his art.
Artist Statement My work explores the relationship between the artist and the observer and also reflects today’s culture getting inspiration from different elements like graffiti, street art, comics and even literature. To quote Faith Ringgold ““I’m not presumptuous enough to feel that people are going to feel what I have in mind”. My goal is to simply cause a reaction on those who see my work, make them look, and see the painting looking back at them, inviting them to see all the movement and details and to hopefully inspire them.
