Designers Statement
From a fallen tree…an art piece is born.
“Energy, natural force, mystery, is what I experience when I find, and rescue these treasures… embracing, caressing, loving it, all these fused emotions inspire the creation of its design, knowing the gratitude of the tree in its new life”.
Designers Biography
Originally from Camagüey, Cuba, Elvira Martinez Manso has made Puerto Rico her home. She initiated her studies in plastic arts and in architectural building and model making in the city of her birth. Since very young her passion for designs was latent.
Studied at “La Liga del Arte” de San Juan, Puerto Rico. A graduate from “El Liceo de Arte y Tecnologia” College in San Juan, Puerto Rico, obtaining first place in design and construction of architectural models.
She founded HERBEH WOOD, which was born out of her love for contemporary furniture design and rescuing these treasures.

Beautiful and natural, noble presence with essential and pure character, these are our exotic woods from Puerto Rico. We rescue piece by piece giving it life again; centennials, marked by time and enriched by the natural forces of the climate, creating, at its pace, smooth and worn out textures. We use antique techniques to preserve the wood, giving each piece an original and unique design, adapting and respe¬cting its original form.
