Manuel Colón.
I have dedicated the past twenty-five years of my life and more to the study and development of the art of sculpture, and I’m passionate about working with a variety of media, such as ceramics, concrete, stainless steel, and more. I’m thrilled as I feel how textures, movements and volumes converge in my hands in these combinations, always within a philosophy of absolute respect for the essence and nature of each and every one of the individual materials.
I confess I am a passionate lover of art in all its broad horizons, and I am always seeking new interpretations, new dialogues and connections for the ideas, thoughts and arguments that are the foundation of my work.
I fell madly in love with sculpture at Casa Candina in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and that feeling became a great passion for the study of every form of art; I have continued adding to my education in the schools of the Art League of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Art Institute at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in everything I do.
My path has allowed me the pleasure of participating in more than a score of group shows and solo shows and has earned me commissions for public and private works. I have also had the privilege of meeting artists and art lovers who enrich my life every day. For all this, I am deeply grateful.
For me, art is the expression of the constant meditation and search intrinsic to our human nature. It’s the nearness to the creative essence that ties us together as a universe. It’s the door and the window that affirms levels of existence that can really endure through time.
