Veronica Stewart

Biography

Veronica Stewart is a contemporary painter, writer, and designer. She was born and raised in the diverse multicultural lifestyle of south Florida. As a child, she excelled in drawing and painting in school and local contests. She began painting seriously after high school when she was living alone for the first time away from her family. After completing a painting of her brother's favorite musician as a Christmas present, she was flooded with requests and encouragement to do other pieces. She has completed countless landscapes, portraits, album covers, and animal paintings, in a variety of styles. She also designs her own line of bathing suits and like her paintings, they strongly reflects Miss Stewart’s equestrian background with bold metallic accents and classic American materials. Her work is a product of the passion, diversity and tumultuous lifestyle of her generation.

She is studying at Florida State University dual majoring in studio art and advertising. In her first college drawing course, Ms. Stewart achieved the highest grades and best in class for several weeks. Her professor, Amanda Boekhout says in her final grading rubric of the artist, “She demonstrates a highly developed sense of value and composition and a keen attention to detail. She illuminates qualities that often go unnoticed by the casual observer.”

Miss Stewart has an online gallery “ARTVTS.com” and her designs can be seen on “Gunmetalapparel.com.” She has been featured in the Glass Gallery Retrospect and Renoartio. She is humbled and honored that her work is enjoyed by other people and excited to keep growing in her craft. She is a proud member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society and the National Society for Leadership and Success at Florida State University.

Artist Statement

"Each piece is launched by an idea or emotion that I work tirelessly on until the vision is completed. I am often inspired by music, poetry, and literature of my generation as well as those before me. I most often use the female or equine figure as the heart of my work. The lines and curves and bone structure create a foundation for themes I find universally alluring and captivating. Celestial beauty, seduction and unabashed raw emotion are layered in my colors and subjects. I was raised breeding and showing horses and exotic animals and capturing their nobility and power on canvas with bold vibrant colors is a natural expression of my family ties and love for all animals...

While I’m painting I am seduced by my subjects with a tunnel vision that is unbreakable, causing time to stand still. Once I decided to make art my life’s work, everything fell into place for me personal and professionally. Expressing myself is an unshakable energy I have always possessed and I am constantly working in different creative fields in order to continue learning and evolving as an artist...

Art is a labor of love for me and involves complete focus, attention to detail, and nuance that requires energy and complex thought. Sometimes that is effortless and sometimes it takes great effort to accomplish. Working harder, learning, and taking risks has kept me growing as a creative. The art world is vast, limitless and always evolving, yet connected by brilliant people and their wonderful work that I am blessed to be part of."
