Sergio Lazo was born in Venezuela in 1970 and has been living in South Florida since 1994. He studied Graphic Design in Caracas. His work can be found in private collections throughout the United States, as well as in Venezuela. He has been developing his artistic skills and talents since early childhood and considers himself as a self-taught artist.
As an artist, I am interested in making the work of the soul more visible and real, enriching our everyday lives. I like to make paintings that are alive. In my work as an artist I seek expression and a deeper knowledge of these issues. I find the inspiration for my paintings in everyday life and the objects that surround me. My current artistic themes include an exploration of places from around the world. I worked in acrylics and oils. Each painting becomes for me a journey of delight, new discovery, and escape from reality into my own inner paradise. It is kind of like breathing. It gives me peace of mind, a sense of accomplishment and happiness. Sometimes I paint from my imagination. I still don't have priorities in the themes to paint and I do not like to be labeled as only a still life artist or a wild life artist and so on. I just love to paint everything that currently is interesting to me.
